  19. colklink88 says:

I like to make big salads and fruit salads. Remember your good knife and cutting board from home, then just buy produce fresh on the road. It is relaxing to cut all of that up outside and people just love it and it’s so healthy! I have never had to store any leftovers there, either… it all gets eaten. We buy the grill meat near the campsite as well so less to pack.

  20. Joe S says:

    take a throw away bbq.

Burgers sausages, kebabs if you want some nice treats try melting marshmallows and chocolate in a banana wrapped in tinfoil. its delightful.

Some nice healthy options would be to season some chicken breast with flavouring such as cajun, hot spicy etc put them in a cool box cook on bbq and serve in pitta’s with a nice salad.

    Marshmellows (smores)
    popcorn
    drinks (alcoholic or not)
Any type of meat that you can cook over a fire with a grill
    Sandwiches

… There are plenty of things that you can make while camping, check out websites and maybe you will find more ideas!

  33. Marilolli says:

most outdoors and camping stores will have a section with dehydrated foods which are light to carry and easy to prepare as long as you have enough water. They even have dehydrated ice cream bars which have a weird texture but taste just like the real thing! Anyway, if you can’t find those then there are always the instant rice and mashed potatoes things that come in packets, trail mix, cereal, etc. This is under the assumption that you’re really camping (backpacks, tent, fire, etc.) and not just living in a trailer or mobile home temporarily… so keeping anything cool will be difficult unless you have a way to store ice for a long period of time. Have fun!

Well you have to do hotdogs over the fire.

  38. Duk Dong says:

Quick and easy is one thing but cool is tough. (assuming you mean cool in temperature, not cool as in awesome) Cool is tough because you will have to keep it cool. You could do cereals, granola, fresh fruits are easily stored, PB &J, if you are fishing, freshly caught fried fish, and the ‘ole camping staples… hot dogs and smores. Have fun and stay safe! Be sure to bring plenty of drinking water.

  39. Darlene says:

    Chips, Hotdogs, RiceKrispies treats..& Peanuts….

  40. Chetak. says:

    Pre make salads.
    Cold Cuts.
Bread and the fixings for sammies.
I would also suggest you take something that can be heated if it turns a bit cold, even if it is a can of baked beans.

  41. chasvanblom says:

One of (if not THE MOST) favorite meals I cook when I go camping is the fresh fish I catch from the river or lake.
You say that it will be HOT, so I am not sure if there will be any water in the river where you will stay. S-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O (pulling out my Cliff-notes on Creative cheffing while outdoors)
How about BEEF STEWS, (O.K. you ask for “cool” – I presume you mean TEMPERATURE-wise ideas); For an entree, I would prep. simple sandwiches with cold (iced) drinks %teas or lemonade.
Or – if you are planning to stop at any Roadside Rest Areas, a re-heatable sliced beef dish fits the menu just fine!

For breakfast stuff I make a farmers breakfast skillet. I buy the liquid eggs in the carton it’s super easy to just freeze it at home and it will thaw by morning throw in some crumbled sausage and a bag of diced potatoes, serve with biscuits (make at home first, freeze) and gravy (buy the gravy mix in the pouch just add water). Oh yeah, and lots of bottled water. Don’t forget dish soap and scrubber to wash the pans.
